Fall Auction of Fine Art and Collectibles
Lot 181A:
Description
Indian Kashmir hand-knotted silk rug on a cotton foundation, Persian/Qum-style Garden Panel (Kheshti) design, probably circa 1960. The design is generally called Garden Panel design. The field is divided into a grid of small compartments, each containing a different motif—flowering plants, cypress/tree forms, vases, palmettes and other stylized garden elements. This ultimately derives from the Persian concept of the enclosed paradise garden. Dimensions: 2′ 11″ x 5′
