Description
Framed 16th century engraving of Francesco Coti. The Latin name Franciscus Curtius Papiensis refers to Francesco Corti (the Younger) of Pavia, who was a celebrated 16th-century Doctor of Laws. The specific book printed in MDXXXIII (1533) is his famous commentary on the Justinian Code. The 1533 edition was famously printed by the Latin publishing house in Lugduni (Lyon). Curtius was an influential canonist and civil lawyer during the Renaissance, and his commentaries on Roman law were widely studied by European jurists.
