Description
The is a French Army AnX1 Briquet saber, circa 1810-30. Compact, sturdy, and unmistakable with its ribbed brass grip, the French saber-briquet armed generations of infantry and artillery Officers and NCOs in the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries. Standardized under the Revolutionary and Napoleonic regimes, it offered a reliable sidearm for close quarters. The weapon’s nickname, “briquet”, likely played on its small size and the French word for a fire lighter. Dimensions: 23″ Blade, 29″ Overall
