Description
Approximately 80 dry glass plate photographs and negatives (4″ x 3″) and approximately 40 larger glass plates (7-8″ x 5″) by the Soule Photograph Company, 338 Washington Street, Boston. J.P. Soule (1828-1904) was the photographer and owner from 1862-1882. Included are portraits of Mrs. Grover Cleveland, wife of the President, Levi P. Morton, 22nd Vice President of the United States, William E. Russel, 37th Governor of MA, Allen Thurman, Congressman and VP nominee for the 1888 election. There are photos of bicycle racing, Lincoln’s Cabinet, Palm trees, locomotives, etc. Also featured are several portraits, buildings as well as photographic reproductions of art work and antique maps as the firm was known for.
