Lot 55:
Attributed Emile Albert Gruppé Winter Scene
Description
Attributed Emile Albert Gruppé (1896-1978) Winter Scene with running stream. Gruppé repeatedly painted New England/Vermont winter streams, using strong blue-violet shadows against warm cream/yellow snow and dark masses of evergreen. This painting has exactly that vocabulary: the winding unfrozen stream, heavy rounded snowbanks, strongly vertical trees, dark central evergreen mass, and loose, confident brushwork. Dimensions: 30″ x 36″
Condition report:
Very good condition
