Fall Auction of Fine Art and Collectibles
Lot 208:
Description
These are antique American cast-iron toy racing cars , one red the other larger one brown, from different manufacturers and periods. The large brown car has several characteristics associated with early Kenton ( Possibly Kenton Hardware Co., Kenton, Ohio) racers: the elongated boat-tail body, large open cockpit, early-style cast driver and distinctive spoked metal wheels circa 1911. The red body, compact boat-tail/open-wheel configuration and cast driver correspond very closely to the Champion Hardware racers. Champion produced its cast-iron toys principally from 1930 to 1936. Dimensions: 3″ H x 5″ L and 4″ H x 8″L
