Fall Auction of Fine Art and Collectibles
Lot 2:
Description
This is a three-piece French Renaissance Revival Three Piece mantel clock garniture consisting of a central striking mantel clock and a matching pair of five-light candelabras. The clock has an unusually elaborate architectural case with a large classical urn finial, open scrolling side elements, foliate ornament, grotesque/mask decoration, paw-like feet and a circular dial with individual white enamel Roman-numeral cartouches. The two winding holes indicate a conventional two-train movement, almost certainly running for about eight days and striking the hours/half-hours on a bell. The matching candelabras repeat the clock’s ornament very closely: urn-shaped standards, extensive open scrollwork, mask and foliate decoration, elaborate bases and five candle sockets arranged on scrolling branches. Dimensions: 20.5″ Clock H, 24″ Candelabra H
Condition report:
