Description
Civil War Era military pack saddle circa 1860. The saddle is built on a heavy duty wooden platform with a protruding wooden channel, based in the center of the saddle. The soldier would drape a cargo load over the saddle, setting a strap inside the channel. Saddle has maker’s marks, 4 sets of floral metal conchos, placed on each corner of the square saddle. Provenance: Collection of Kent DeVore, operator of “DeVore Saddlery”, Helena Montana.
Condition report:
Good condition for its age, undercarriage has some repairs
