Description
Letter to President James K. Polk asking for a position as paymaster to the Department of the Army. Louis Brand, the petitioner, was wounded on the Navy Brig Ganges of Plymouth MA which was protecting US citizens in the Gran Colombian–Peruvian War of 1828 and 1829 (a little known fact) and also served in the Mexican War. Chief Justice Tany also mentioned.
