Description
Framed oil on canvas portrait of Anna Scott Fisher ca. 1896-1898, prior to her wedding day by Eliza Cecilia Beaux (1855-1942). This is an investment opportunity as her works can begin at 6 figures. An almost identical portrait is at the Bowdoin College Museum which can be used as a reference (photo attached). This painting is not a copy but a version of the one in Bowdoin College commissioned by the family and likely given to another family member. Cecilia Beaux was an American artist and the first woman to teach art at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. Known for her elegant and sensitive portraits of friends, relatives, and Gilded Age patrons, Beaux painted many famous subjects including First Lady Edith Roosevelt, Admiral Sir David Beatty and Georges Clemenceau.
