Description
An oil painting on card (circa 1950s-60s) as a Merry Christmas gift to Harry Francis Burke of Florida, depicting sunlight and a bird. Stamped on back. Alexander (Sandy) Calder (1898 – 1976) worked primarily in Connecticut and New York and is known for kinetic sculpture and modernist drawings. Provenance: Thomas Realy of Florida, an art dealer acquired it from the Burke estate and sold it to the consignor in the early 1990s. Artwork has been submitted to the Calder Foundation.
