This is an unframed watercolor on paper signed Miró on lower left. The abstract painting depicts figures, eyes and celestial bodies. Joan Miró (1893 – 1983) worked in both Spain and France and is known for abstract curvilinear design painting of which this is an excellent example. Miró established himself in Paris at the age of twenty-six. and made friends with Pablo Picasso, Alexander Calder, Ernest Hemingway, Max Ernst and Paul Klee and was accepted as a surrealist.
