This is a letter dated May 15, 1813, to Captain Butler of the Light Dragoons, US Army in Danville Vermont. Danville is near the Canadian Boarder, an important passage way to Canada during the War Of 1812. Dragoons were considered an elite fighting force trained to fight both on horseback and on foot.
