Description
This early Pike barometer is an early flat design made prior to the ubiquitous banjo barometers. In fact it is one of the earliest ones known. Benjamin Pike (1777-1863) was born in London and moved to New York in 1798 and set up shop on 518 Broadway, NYC as an optician and scientific instrument maker. Pike was the finest scientific instrument maker in mi-century New York and the business survived into the 20th century. Date: Circa 1831-1835 Dimensions: 40" height 7" Width
