Fabulous primitive painting of Major John and Martha Dunlap. Major John Dunlap is wearing his military uniform and Martha is wearing her Sunday best dress. Major John Dunlap was commissioned as major of the Ninth Regiment of New Hampshire Militia. The painting is on board and has been in the family for over 225 years. John Dunlap was not only a furniture craftsman but also a house builder, carpenter, joiner, sash, door and chair maker, tool maker, millwright, wagon maker, and maker of spinning wheels and looms and a painter. Dimensions: 26″ Height x 36″ Width
Condition: The primitive painting was found in the attic of the Robert Dunlap House, Bedford NH in two sections and have been professionally re-joined.
