The Life of Napoleon Bonaparte by S. Baring-Gould, 624pp, published London 1897. Full red cloth, gilt lettering and decoration on cover and spine, violet endpapers with gilt decoration. Profusely illustrated with tissue-protected illustrations at the beginning of each chapter, and hundreds of in-text illustrations. Sabine Baring-Gould (1834 1924) of Devon, England, was an Anglican priest, antiquarian, biographer, novelist and eclectic scholar.
