Charles Cobelle watercolor of a street scene with peopl e entitled " Fishing on the Seine" . Charles Cobelle (1902 – 1998) was active in both Connecticut and France and is known for Naive-sophisticated painting-street scenes, regattas, race tracks. Born in Alsace-Lorraine, France, and becoming a U.S. citizen in the late 1920s, Charles Cobelle began his career in Paris studying at the L’Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris and with Marc Chagall. His work is in the collection of the Hartford Atheneum, the Mark Hopkins Hotel in San Francisco, and the private collection of Howard Hughes. Dimensions: 21.5" x 29>5" Image size
