Framed oil on canvas summer NH landscape with stream and a hiker, signed lower left. Known as a painter of the White Mountains of New Hampshire, Samuel Griggs was listed as an architect in the Boston City directory from 1848 to 1852, and as an artist from 1854 until his death 1898. It is believed that he studied under Albert Bierstadt. Provenance: Grant Estate of Hopkinton NH. Dimensions: 18" x 27" Image size, 24" x 33" Overall
