Description
Framed rare autograph letter signed in French, signed “Renoir,” two off-white pages on two adjoining sheets which have been separated for display purposes, circa 1900. There is a portrait of Renoir in his wheelchair. Pierre-Auguste Renoir was a famous French painter of the Impressionist movement, born in 1841 in Limoges, France, as the sixth of seven children. Renoir started his artistic career as a porcelain painter, but soon switched to oil painting. He befriended other Impressionist artists, such as Monet, Sisley, and Bazille. Renoir was known for his vibrant use of color and light, and his depiction of everyday scenes and people. Dimensions: overall size of 25.0″ x 15.0″.
