Description
This rare pair of late 16th century German knights’ stirrups are hand-forged stirrups, reinforced at the front, the sides and the bottom of the wooden base with steel straps mounted in a heavy band with a suspension loop. The interior is fitted with the original leather lining. These armored stirrups supported and gave stability to the rider and also crucially protected the feet in battle. Dimensions: Overall length: 26 cm (10.5 in) Width: 14 cm (5.5 in) Height: 16 cm (6.3 in)
Condition report:
The stirrups are in VERY good condition considering their age. They do have clear but minor dents but that is to be expected from 16th-century Armor that most certainly would have seen and survived combat action.
